Not every leak looks like a puddle. Many of the most damaging leaks happen slowly, behind walls or under floors, and the only clues are things a homeowner might otherwise dismiss.
An Unexplained Rise in the Water Bill
If usage habits haven't changed but the bill has gone up, a hidden leak is one of the more common explanations. Checking the water meter with everything in the house turned off — if it's still moving, water is leaking somewhere.
Damp Spots That Never Fully Dry
A patch of carpet, drywall, or flooring that stays damp or discolored, even without an obvious spill, often points to moisture coming from inside a wall or under a slab.
